The porcelain with impressed date codes for (1)810, blue Bindenschild marks and Pressmarken S, the decoration probably later
Finely painted with either Suzanne et les Vieillards or with Achilles encamped, the border with a raised gilt rinceau within pale blue bands, each corner decorated en grisaille with a medallion of either a winged mythic grotesque or a putto
9½ (24 cm.) wide; 10 7/8 in. (27.5 cm.) diagonal (2)

Lot Essay

The subject of Suzanne and the Old Men is considered apocryphal by some, but is included in the Book of Daniel (Dan 13, 19-24) by the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches.
