The center finely painted with the death of King Ottocar II, identified below 'Kaiser Rudolf von Habsburg beiden Leiche Ottokars 1278' , the border finely painted with half-medallions depicting the following historic scenes:

'Erzherzog Karl bei Aspern 1809.'

Lot Essay

Ottokar II was King of Bohemia (1253 - 1278). During his reign his domain reached the Adriatic Sea and included most of the later Hapsburg crown lands. Ultimately he was defeated in a fierce battle against the Germans and Hungarians.
