Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1945 and its subsequent sale on 20 July 1945. It has never been offered in public before.

Although the watch was originally entered in Patek Philippe's archives to have left the manufacture with a leather strap, the present bracelet is from the same period and has possibly been added upon request from the original owner at the date of purchase.

Reference 1450, also known as the "Top Hat" model amongst collectors, was in production from 1940 until the 1960s. The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by M. Huber & A. Banbery, 1st edition p. 113, pl. 158, 2nd edition p. 137, pl. 196 and in Armbanduhren by G. Negretti, F. Nencini, p. 217, pl. 156-157.
