Four lacquer kogo and a chaire [tea jar]
Edo Period (17th - 19th century)
The first, circular wood decorated in iroe-hiramaki-e with maple leaves and pine needles; a circular kogo, with a flush-fitting cover in gold hiramaki-e on a black ground, the interior with flowers and grasses; a chaire and cover decorated in gold hiramaki-e on a black ground with chrysanthemums and swirling water; a circular box with flush-fitting cover decorated in gold and red hiramaki-e and inlaid in mother-of-pearl on a black ground with plum blossom, the sides with a geometric design, black lacquer interior; the last, circular, with flush-fitting cover decorated in gold hiramaki-e, gold foil and mother-of-pearl inlay on a black ground with plum blossom, nashiji interior, fundame rims
