MAP -- Karta promyshlennosti Evropeiskoi Rossii. [Map of the Industry of European Russia]. [St. Petersburg:] by Dreger and Bergman, 1842.
Large folding hand-coloured lithographed wall map (1227 x 1266mm), dissected in 24 panels, mounted on linen and edged in green cloth. Contemporary quarter morocco and patterned maroon paper-covered slipcase and matching chemise lined with yellow coated paper, spine with gilt scrolling frame and titled in Cyrillic (light wear).
EARLY INDUSTRIALIZATION IN RUSSIA. A rare, large, and finely hand-coloured wall map, in its contemporary slipcase, showing the distribution of factories of various types, including those for mineral processing, transport routes, ports, quarantine stations, banks, customs houses and other features of industry for all of Russia up to the Urals. The industrialization of Russia only took hold about 20 years before the publication of this map with the expansion of the rail network. A cartouche shows the distribution of industries for the Moscow region, and another shows the population distribution for all of European Russia.
