Lot Essay

Edward Martindale Richardson was the second son of Thomas Miles Richardson, Sen. (1784-1848). He worked in a similar manner to his brother, Thomas Miles Richardson, Jun., R.W.S. (1813-1890). Like his sibling, he travelled throughout Britain and on the Continent. He exhibited in London from 1846 and was elected an Associate of the New Society of Painters in Water Colours in 1859.
