A blue and white 'kraak porselein' bowl, 1635-1650
with deep rounded flaring sides, the interior with a central medallion painted with sampans and ducks in a river flanked by European houses, encircled by a foliate floral scroll below the sides with lappet shaped panels enclosing scenes including dignitaries and attendants, houses and figures by the river bank and floral and fruit sprays, framed and flanked by foliate and floral scrolls and sprays, the exterior similarly painted -- 14 1/8in. (35.9cm.) diam.
