5½ x 8 in. (14 x 20.2 cm.)
Provenance
Ol'ga Dobuzhinsky (later Totwen) was the half sister of Mstislav Dobuzhinsky. She studied painting, sculpture and set design in St. Petersburg - the last of these under the tuition of her half brother. Subsequently, she founded the 'Latek' puppet theatre in Vilnius before moving it to Gdansk following World War II. The theatre was nationalised in 1952 becoming the 'Teatr Miniatura'. It still exists to this day.
Her daughter, Ewa Totwen, was a promising art student and Mstislav Dobuzhinsky sent her the following twenty four set and costume designs as an encouragement to her studies as an art student.
Special notice
