Lot Essay

This pattern is closely idenified with a service thought to be at Schloss Bamberg. A part service of this pattern in the de Bargigli Collection was offered by Christie's Geneva on 22nd April 1970, lot 29. For similar examples in the Hoffmeister Collection, see D. Hoffmeister, Meissener Porzellan des 18. Jahrhunderts Sammlung Hoffmeister (Hamburg, 1999), Vol. I, no. 167. Two further examples were sold in these Rooms on 10th July 2007, lots 52 and 53.
