Painted with allegorical scenes within a continuous landscape, titled 'Amour hayt l'avarice' and 'Amour dompte la colere', signed with a conjoined GE monogram

Lot Essay

This jug was painted by George Eyre (1818-1887), sometime Art Director of Minton Hollins the tile makers. He married Betsy Stone in 1847 and had three children, including the watercolourist John Eyre, R.B.A., R.I. (1850-1927).
