(9.5 cm.) silvered face, signed and numbered Sheperd & Son, Makers to the Royal Navy,53 Leandenhall St. London, 1828., Roman hour numerals, subsidiary seconds and up-and-down dial, gold hands, spotted top-plate, Earnshaw escapement, cut bimetallic balance cylindrical heat compensation weights and peripheral timing screws, and blued steel helical balance spring, spring foot detent, gimballed brass bowl, three-tier brass bound mahogany box with rectangular bakelite plaque inscribed with name and address of maker, flush recessed carrying handles.
