A MEISSEN CHINOISERIE BOWL
CIRCA 1725, GILDER'S 26.
Painted in the manner of J.G. Höroldt with Orientals, one side with a seated figure taking tea, a servant presenting him with a steaming saucer, the other side with a seated Oriental with a staff being offered a tray by a servant, both on grassy terraces among flowering plants, vases and fences within shaped octafoil cartouches with Böttger-lustre panels, gilt scrolls and iron-red foliage scrolls, between branches of indianische Blumen, the lower part with gilt scale ornament, scrolls and a band of loops, the interior with a standing Oriental between a fruiting plant and exotic fence and rock issuing a pine tree within a similar cartouche, the interior rim with a band of gilt interlocking scrolls and scale-pattern (one side broken and restored)
