Gouache heightened with gold on paper, the Raja sits, heavily bejewelled with pearls and emeralds and wearing a white jama over embroidered pyjamas, on a white rug on a terrace beneath an orange and green awning with a hookah before him and a manservant in attendance dressed in red, orange and white, fruiting trees beyond the palace wall, mounted, framed and glazed
