(Lacks quire A containing all but final leaf of the preface, and final blank, some soiling and browning, mainly marginal, some waterstaining, small burn-hole in Q2.) Contemporary panelled calf, fragment of a single-sheet ballad bound in as front endpaper and pastedown, FFF stamp on spine (upper cover detaching, spine chipped at head and lacking lettering-piece). Provenance: William Vesey (signature on front blank) -- Robert Sturton 1667 (signature on B1 verso) -- Francis Ferrand Foljambe (binding).
Only edition of this translation of books 1 and 2 of Omnium gentium mores, also including 'The treatise of Josephus', a translation of book 4 chapter 8 of Antiquitates Judaicae. The translator's preface signed: William Watreman. STC 3197.
