STAMPED 'JACOB FRERES RUE MESLEE', CIRCA 1800
Of rectangular form with an gilt-tooled green leather top, above two frieze drawers, a coffre-fort to the right-side drawer, raised on a tressle base on paw feet, joined by a turned stretcher, ormolu border to the top later, feet regilt, one foot with different casting and chasing, possibly replaced, while the other three are probably original, blocks to the bottom of the feet stamped 'I,II,III,IIII', the stamp is under left side of the trestle

Lot Essay

This stamp, 'JACOB FRERES RUE MESLEE' is associated with George II and François-Honoré-George and was used between 1796 and 1803.

This table evokes the antique style popularized largely by Percier and Fontaine in their Recueil de décorations intérieurs, Paris 1812.
