Half titles, plates, illustrations (occasional light browning). Contemporary cloth-backed boards (extremities very lightly rubbed), volume 79 in a morocco slipcase. Provenance: Carnegie Institution of Washington (blind stamp on an endpaper).
A substantial set of this highly significant fourth series containing important papers by, among others, Albert Einstein (including his first published paper, papers on the effect of gravitation on light and his famous theorem E=Mc2), Max Planck (the first printing in the Annalen of his anouncement of the quantum theory), Erwin Schrödinger (four papers on wave equation under the overall title "Quantisierung des Eigenwertproblem"), Max von Laue (papers on x-ray diffraction interference), Herman Minkowski (space and time), and Johannes Stark (Stark effect).
