Lot Essay

This image demonstrates a precocious mastery by the still teenage Brett. It is a graphically refined abstraction, perfectly observed and captured, that sets up a dynamic contrast between the fine linear patterning within the diagonal structures of the roof slopes and the bold negative shape of the central shadow area.

This specific image was one of twenty by Brett Weston selected by his father for the Film und Foto exhibition.
