Lot Essay

Lionel Edwards observed in My Hunting Sketchbook that 'Everytime I see this view (which is pretty often) I think of it as one of the finest in England. It was abandoned for the "Shire and Provinces" series in favour of Cloutsham which is so much better known, although Stoke Ridge is not much more than a mile farther on.

Looking from Exford Road across Stoke Ridge, Wilmersham, Porlock Hill and Vale, and over the Channel to Wales, one gets, I think, quite a pick of the scenery in this part of the West Country.'
