Lot Essay

Georges Gardet (1863-1939) studied under Aimé Millet and Frémiet, so becoming one of the most accomplished animaliers sculptors of the late 19th century. He won the Grand Prix at the Exposition of 1900, as well as being appointed an Officer of the Legion of Honour in that year.
