Lot Essay

This fine blade appears to be by the first generation Morimichi working in Owari Province, and is in the robust shape of early shinto. The second generation worked around the Kanbun era and sometimes signed Sanpin Fujiwara Morimichi. Swords signed Musashi no kami Fujiwara Morimichi and Kaga no kami Fujiwara Morimichi have the same tang characteristics and the calligraphy suggests they are by the same second generation smith.
