A DUTCH FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL OF MAASTRICHT TYPE, PERHAPS BY JEAN KRANS

With swamped sighted barrel formed in two stages with moulded brass girdle and inlaid with engraved brass strips over the length of the breech, brass tang, plain bevelled lock struck with a mark (incomplete), carved moulded walnut full stock (rubbed, fore-end replaced), brass mounts cast in low relief, including spurred pommel with grotesque mask cap, and pierced side-plate involving half-figures and also struck with a mark, 'IR' (ramrod replaced).
