FIRST EDITION of Schwinck's rare star atlas, dedicated to the well-known German astronomer F.W. Bessel, who advised Schwinck on this work. Schwinck's atlas was considered more of a professional atlas than a popular atlas, with the location and intensity of different stars noted in black in the foreground and the constellations mapped out in lighter red in the background.
