A SEED PEARL EMBROIDERED SCROLL
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

Finely embroidered with blossoming pomegranate tree and bamboo growing from behind the taihu rocks on an embankment and with a Paradise-flycatcher in flight in the upper right corner, worked in satin stitch in tones of green, bright blue, russet, grey, and cream on a honey-coloured silk ground, two of the peony blossoms embellished with seed pearls and outlined in Peking knot
