Joseon dynasty (19th century)
Of square section with slanted shoulders and tapered neck, painted in underglaze blue on each of the four sides with different scenes: two scholars on a tree-lined shore looking out onto a wide inlet; bamboo and plum; a pavilion on a rocky outcropping with its standard fluttering in the wind, a boat below and distant rocks and sun; and further bamboo interspersed with a branch of just-flowering plum, all within narrow line borders; the angled shoulders painted with scallops within slender lines; the vessel additionally decorated with a glossy transparent glaze of blue cast; base unglazed
