Persian manuscript on variously coloured, gold-sprinkled paper, 8ff. each with 6ll. of black nasta'liq with important words and phrases picked out in white or red, text panels laid down betwen gold and polychrome rules on different coloured, gold-sprinkled paper, opening folio with gold and polychrome illuminated headpiece, colophon similarly decorated and with cartouche containing the name of Muhammad Husayn, small areas of staining, and scuffing on the inner margins, in tan morocco with central gilt stamped medallion, green morocco doublures

Lot Essay

This manuscript was in the Mughal Royal Libraries of Shah 'Alam and Ahmad Shah whose officials left their seal impressions. It entered the Qajar Royal Library in AH 1240/1825 AD. The gold sprinkling of the borders was done after it left the Mughal Library.
