NICHOLAS II, Tsar of Russia (1896-1917) -- A French green morocco blotter pad, by Moullot of Marseille, c.1896.

Rectangular (362 x 288mm), the upper cover applied with a shaped oval partly openwork plaque engraved Marseille a LL. MM. L'Empereur & L'Imperatrice de Russie et a Mr. le Président de la République française, with a cornerpiece upper right with the Imperial arms and arms of the city, the interior with green watered silk. Provenance: Nicholas II (bookplate of his personal library in the Winter Palace). With:

-- A brown morocco blotter pad, rectangular (407 x 288mm), the upper cover applied with a plaque with the profile of a griffin holding a sword (slightly soiled), the interior with red watered silk.

Each item with a receipt from the Hotel Europa in Leningrad dated 12 July 1931 sold to Mrs. Elizabeth Patterson, stating they both came from the library of Nicholas II. (2)
