Lot Essay

Miyazaki Shigeyoshi, or Fujiwara Kunishige signed with two different characters for shige. Inscriptions on blades made by possibly two or more smiths contain both Yajima shin (a retainer of Yajima) and Yajima ju (resident of Yajima), and also shows that they worked in Sekishu (Iwami province the Western part of Shimane Prefecture), Ushu (Dewa province present day Yamagata/Akita Prefectures). The smiths were retained by the Ikoma clan.
