DOMAINE COCHE-DURY

Robert Parker describes Jean-Francois Coche-Dury as "one of the greatest winemakers on planet earth", and few would beg to differ. Painfully small yields and meticulously precise winemaking are what give the wines their character and intensity. His top wines spend an astonishing 22 months in barriques and are lightly fined but never filtered prior to bottling.
These are exceptionally intense, powerful and long-lived wines. They are full bodied but never cloying, with the concentrated fruit always being underpinned by crisp and balanced acidity.

Domaine-bottled: Coche-Dury
Vintage note: A very satisfactory vintage. Thanks to a hot summer and favourable ripening conditions a decent sized harvest of very attractive wines. Judging by my notes, the overall quality is unusually even and though there was a deficit of acidity in some quarters, I have found the wines well balanced, their ripeness and flesh very appealing, Most are perfect now, while the firmer, more acidic '96s are taking their time. ***** Michael Broadbent, Vintage Wine
