Rectangular black tortoiseshell box with rounded corners and concave sides, the cover centred with a gold plaque engraved with the initials 'GP' (Georgius Princeps) surmounted by the Prince of Wales crown, the reeded mounts chased with stylised lotus and vegetal motifs

A gift to Alleyne FitzHerbert, 1st Baron St. Helens (1753-1839), from George, Prince of Wales, later King George IV (1762-1830).
