The Derbyshire Yeomanry was first raised in 1794, as a regiment of fencible soldiers mobilized against potential French invasion. In several incarnations, they have served in the Crimea, the South African War and the First and Second World Wars before amalgamating in 1957 to form The Leicestershire and Derbyshire (Prince Albert's Own) Yeomanry.
