Lot Essay

Pinchon was a student of François-André Vincent and Jean-Baptiste-Jacques Augustin who exhibited at the Salon between 1795 and 1844. He was the court painter for Empress Elizabeth of Russia, and many of his drawn portraits can be found in the Hermitage, St. Petersburg.
