QIANLONG SEAL MARKS IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The rounded sides flaring upwards from the foot, the center painted with a flower head surrounded by a band of conjoined, alternating peaches and palmettes, below the Eight Daoist Emblems tied with ribbons and embellished with flower sprays, the exterior with eight stylized flower sprays above a band of alternating ruyi heads and leaf tips, all within double line borders

Acquired by the grandfather of the present owners, Whampoa, Guangdong, circa 1890 - 1920s, thence by descent within the family.

Qianlong-marked dishes of this pattern are in the Tokyo National Museum, illustrated in the Catalogue of Tokyo National Museum: Chinese Ceramics, vol. 2, Tokyo, 1990, pl. 593; and in the Umezawa Kinenkan Museum, Tokyo, illustrated in Toji Taikei, vol. 46, Tokyo, 1973, pl. 28. One was included in the exhibition, Ch'ing Polychrome Porcelain, The Oriental Ceramic Society of Hong Kong, 1977, no. 83; and another in the exhibition, Qing Imperial Porcelain, Nanjing Museum and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1995, no. 106.
