Provenance
With the label of the Henri Gaudier-Brzeska exhibition held at the Leicester Galleries, London, October 1962 attached to the back of the frame.

"Although Gaudier-Brzeska worked predominantly as a sculptor, he briefly experimented with etching and drypoint and produced a single linocut, Wrestlers, in the studio of Horace Brodzky, an experienced printmaker and close friend." French-born Henri Gaudier-Brzeska was introduced to the linocut technique by Horace Brodzky. Together with Ezra Pound and Wyndham Lewis, Henri Gaudier-Brzeska became one of the main propounders of the avant-guard Vorticist movement, going on to become a founding member of the London Group. Like many of his generation his life was cut short by the First World War. However despite the brevity of his creative output, his work had a lasting resonance and was a major influence on 20th century French and British sculpture.
