Lot Essay

The painting on these beakers can be attributed to Giuseppe Romei, who typically painted landscapes in this style, first in red and after 1750 in puce. See the coffee-pot illustrated by Johann Kräftner (ed.), Baroque Luxury Porcelain, The Manufactories of du Paquier in Vienna and of Carlo Ginori in Florence, Liechtenstein Museum, Vienna 2005-2006 Exhibition Catalogue (Munich, 2005), pp. 331-334, cat. no. 174.
