Enamelled in iron-red, black, green and gilt with a central coat-of-arms surrounded by S-shaped scrollwork and surmounted by a demi-lune, the rim with pendent stems of chrysanthemum, vine and peony (base star crack)
37.5 cm diam.

Lot Essay

The arms are those of an Amsterdam family or guild. It is known from a lacquer seal on a letter dated Amsterdam, 11 July 1752, written and signed by fourteen chief tax-gatherers.
