The fleur de pêcher marble top above a scrolling acanthus and floral-festooned frieze, over a bevelled glazed door with parquetry lower panel applied with ribbon-tied floral garlands, with concaved glazed sides, the angles headed by mask-suspended musical and floral pendants, the mirrored interior with a pair of adjustable shelves, on tapering legs and acanthus-capped feet; the reverse of the lock-plate stamped 'CT LINKE/SERRURERIE/PARIS' and numbered '458' with cancelled out '1164'

Lot Essay

Christopher Payne notes that the present model vitrine, index number 458, was designed circa 1899, with Linke producing three variations, each with convex sides. An example of one of the other two variants was sold Sotheby's, New York, 26 October 2006, lot 81.
