In his accompanying letter Connolly explains, that when he wrote for the London Evening Standard newspaper between 1969-1971 and prior to John and Yoko's move to New York, he'd spent a considerable amount of time with them. Post 1971 however his contact with the Lennon's became increasingly infrequent. His suggestion for making a documentary on John in 1976 arose out of Connolly's interest in Lennon's description of himself as a "house-husband" and his decision to give up recording in order to look after his new baby, Sean, at home. As Connolly observes Judging by the letter...he didn't fancy the idea.
