An amusing high-spirited letter, typed, annotated and signed by John Lennon to Ray Connolly in 1975 on Lennon Music, 1370 Avenue of The Americas, New York... headed stationery, the address crossed out by John and re-written in his hand in black felt pen 1.W.72, apt 72. etc, dated junespoon75, year of our ford etc, the letter, a response to a note Connolly had sent to Yoko congratulating her on her pregnancy, opening: This is her husband speaking... then immediately commenting on Connolly's recent screen success [That'll Be The Day 1973, Stardust 1974] and parallels others had drawn between Connolly's screenplay and John's own life story ...actually we never saw the film, but simply everyone who is no-one kept telling us it was J+Y and/or de Beatles...who cares? later commenting somewhat waspishly: What do you do these days...I know you write scripts (made out of old press clippings?) Are you still a T.V personality, (using what I can't imagine)?...; John's keen interest in British politics and topical British matters is revealed by his musings on the ...Common or Garden Market...issue: It's weird sitting here watching me hard earned pounds turning into italians...ask Harold to let me take out a few before it's too late will yer? [sic] and his postscript: ..p.s. the bay city rollers are gay.
