An amusing letter, typed and signed by John Lennon to Ray Connolly in 1976 on Lennono Music, 1 West 72nd Street, New York... headed stationery dated 76, the letter a response to Connolly's suggestion that he make a documentary on John's new life as a "house-husband" in New York, to which Lennon's gives a forthright response: ...(i dont [sic] have your letter in front of me) but i do remember my answer...NOT EFFIN LIKELY!!, Lennon's delight in his new baby Sean, his irreverent humour and exuberance are reflected by his comments on current visitors: It's a beautifull [sic] day here in de [sic] big Apple... George (I'm with God) Harrisong and Derek (One is too many...a hundred is not enuff [sic] ) Taylor are in town and will have the unmitigated honor to meet the incredibly beautifull [sic] and intelligent Sean Ono Lennon!!!; his affection for Connolly and his ability to keep in touch with the comtemporary British mood is revealed when he signs off: Save the pound...fuck the queen. long live us all y'all, love to you and yours from me and mind how you goffer, I remain discreetly, johnandoryoko signed in black felt pen John and annotated with his self-portrait caricatures of John, Yoko's and Sean's smiling faces; accompanied by a letter from Ray Connolly regarding the provenance

In his accompanying letter Connolly explains, that when he wrote for the London Evening Standard newspaper between 1969-1971 and prior to John and Yoko's move to New York, he'd spent a considerable amount of time with them. Post 1971 however his contact with the Lennon's became increasingly infrequent. His suggestion for making a documentary on John in 1976 arose out of Connolly's interest in Lennon's description of himself as a "house-husband" and his decision to give up recording in order to look after his new baby, Sean, at home. As Connolly observes Judging by the letter...he didn't fancy the idea.
