engraving, circa 1573-74, on laid paper, watermark IHS with Cross in a Circle, a good impression of the third state (of four), with good contrast, trimmed to the border on three sides and into the plate below, a small made-up paper loss at the lower sheet edge at left, remains of glue at the corners verso with resultant pale staining recto, otherwise in very good condition; with Allegory of Birth (B. 57; B & L. 26) by the same hand, engraving, 1558, on laid paper, Watermark Bunch of Grapes surmounted by Fleur-de-Lys with Initials TB, an impression of the third state (of five), trimmed inside the platemark but retaining a fillet of blank paper outside the borderline, some minor repairs and defects
