by the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St Petersburg, period of Catherine II, circa 1780-1796
Circular, the centre painted with two multi-coloured bouquets of flowers, with three small sprays, with open work moulded lattice border with foliate detail and ribbon, within an undulating puce rim, marked under base with dark blue underglaze 'E II' and dot and incised 'E'

Lot Essay

The pierced moulded design on the border of the plate was developed at the Gardner Porcelain Factory for the dessert part of the service ordered by Catherine II for the Pavlovsk palace.
