ATTRIBUTED TO KHAETSCHER, circa 1700/1710

Jan Wellem, Elector Palatine, with centre-parted curly blond full-bottom wig, wearing a gold-edged damascened armour with embroidered lace collar, an ermine-lined purple velvet cloak attached with a jewelled clasp, decorated with the jewel of the Order of the Golden Fleece; enamel on gold, oval -- 25 mm high, reeded gold bezel.

Lot Essay

John William (1658-1716), Elector Palatine, married first Maria-Anna Josepha of Habsburg in 1678, and secondly, in 1691, Maria-Anna-Luisa of Medici.
