Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1994 and its subsequent sale on January 19th, 1995. Further accompanied by a Patek Philippe wooden presentation box and outer packaging.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.

Patek Philippe produced the reference 3970 from 1986 until approximately 2004. Two versions existed of the reference 3970/2 with bracelet: the earlier like the present example with integrated bracelet and a later version with detachable bracelet. The present watch represents one of approximately only 5 examples of this version of the reference 3970 known to the market.

Reference 3970/2 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by O. Patrizzi, vol. II, plate 1129, p. 270.
