An inlaid-bronze tripod incense burner (koro)
Meiji period (late 19th century)
Of ovoid form with dark brown patination overall, chiseled with gilt and inlaid details in gold and shibuichi and decorated with birds and foliage in two large opposed heart-shaped panels, the handles cast as lion faces with open mouths and with three stylized lion-form feet, the cover surmounted by a pierced globe carved in a floral motif and with a band of keyfret scroll around the base
