A gray schist bust of Maitreya
Gandhara, 2nd/3rd century
Sensitively carved with almond-shaped eyes, prominent nose and moustache, the protruding brow centered by an urna, the hair pulled back into a topknot secured by a beaded tiara with locks falling over his shoulders, wearing earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and flowing robes
