Monaco Grand Prix 1987 - The Winner's Trophy and Podium Cap

Driving the active suspension Lotus-Honda 99T Senna inherited the lead when Mansell's exhaust broke and drove away to an undisputed victory, 33 seconds ahead of Piquet and setting the fastest lap, by a clear second over his nearest rival. The trophy which is stamped with continental silver marks has a silver-gilt lined bowl with applied Monaco Crown crest in relief to front, surmounting a marble base with applied plaque and inscribed "45 ieme Grand Prix Automobile de Monaco - 31 Mai 1987".On the podium Senna turned and used Peter Warr as an aiming point allowing him to spray the Royal party with champagne; on descending immediately following the presentation, he handed both trophy and cap to Warr in recognition of their achievement. It has never been cleaned since and still bears the champagne stains. The unique Goodyear winner's cap made specially for each GP event has the badges "Monaco Grand Prix" on the left side and "1987 Winner" on the right.
