YONGZHENG PERIOD (1723-35)
Each finely enamelled with panels of dignitaries, court ladies and attendants, alternating with birds on flowering branches, above similar smaller panels of pairs of birds alternating with panels of flowers, all within raised pale yellow borders decorated with scrolling foliage, the necks with quatrefoil panels of figures, the domed covers with floral and bird panels below large seated hound finials
The vases 38 in. (96.5 cm.) high, tall giltwood stands (2)

Lot Essay

A pair of related Yongzheng jars from the A. E. Cumberbatch collection is illustrated by G. C. Williamson, The Book of Famille Rose, London, 1927, plate LV; they were sold in these Rooms, 6 April 1998, lot 134. Another pair, but with each panel forming a continuous scene, was sold in these Rooms, 8 November 2005, lot 106.
