The mark may be translated as 'Made for the Hall for the Cultivation of Virtue'. Compare a Qianlong-marked carved white-glazed pear-shaped vase with an almost identical design from the Robert Chang Collection, sold Christie's Hong Kong, 2 November 1999, lot 285.
