slightly tapering rectangular étui-à-tablettes with arched top, of oblong section, all sides of cover and base of translucent light-blue guilloché enamel on a moiré engine-turned ground, obverse and reverse of cover applied with inscription 'SOUVENIR/D'AMITIE', the obverse centred with an oval plaque with a classical scene in ivory depicting a dog seated beside an urn within a mother-of-pearl and reeded gold border, within darker blue guilloché enamel borders with alternating gold paillons and opaque white enamel pellets, the reverse centred with a similarly framed scrolling diamond-set monogram 'L A' on a guilloché light-blue enamel engine-turned ground within similar borders, the interior with leaved ivory tablets with gold rivet, gold-capped pencil and gold scissors
