Contemporary red morocco, covers with one thick and 4 thin gold fillets surrounding coat of arms bearing the motto "Fortis est Veritas," spine in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands, gilt lettered in 2, gilt ornamental device in 4, edges gilt concealing TRIPLE FORE-EDGE PAINTINGS of Caesar flanked by panels of Romulus and Remus and the assassination of Caesar, ends with triumphal eagle and a warrior chariot; The Pantheon flanked by a view of the Pons Mulvius over the Tiber, ends with domestic Roman architecture; Triumphal Arch flanked by Roman Guard, ends with wrestlers and a rowing vessel, and THE THEATER AT POMPEII FLANKED BY A PAN PIPER AND AN ATELLAN ACTOR, ENDS WITH DIONYSIAC TRAGEDIAN MASK AND A SATYR HEAD (light rubbing to extremities, some faint staining).
